Overall rating 4. Yes No Thanks for your feedback! Report as inappropriate. Everytime I think of this book, I cry. Like ugly cry. The characters are soo relatable, you feel like you've known them forever. Once again Nicholas Sparks kept me reading!!!! I love every one of his books I have quite a few of his books and will continue to buy his work I just love to read his books!!!! I bought this book after actually seeing the movie for the first time.
I had watched it with no anticipation and was expecting nothing more then a poorly-written, poorly-acted religious love story. What I actually got, however, was a very well-made movie that told a moving story without preaching to the viewers.
So, naturally, when I discovered the book, I wanted to get the "full story" experience.

What a shock this book was, I must say! It is not nearly as good as the film from which this book sourced. The writing is very sub-par, childish and weak. From someone who is constantly surprised and treated with the works of Stephen King, Harlan Ellison, Joe Hill and others, this book came as a major surprise.
The biggest surprise to me was in that Nicholas Sparks is apparently a 1 New York Times Bestseller which doesn't mean a whole lot because EVERYONE is on that list, as the covers of their books proudly boast; I like to stay away from authors who put this un-accomplishment on their jackets.
The writing just doesn't sound like that of a best-selling author, even if the author was having a bad or dry spell. It was just a mess, and I had to get the audiobook and speed it up 3x in order to be able to get through this story at all. The majority of the story was made-up, though certain parts did have their basis in reality. A close reading of the story will answer that question, but the answer is largely two-fold. Landon is a typical teenage boy, and at one time, I was one of those as well, so I could relate to what he was thinking.
But the funny thing is, despite what people read in the newspapers, I think most teenagers have pretty good hearts. Either the miracle was that Jamie lived if that was the ending you imagined , or that Landon had experienced the miracle of first love and it had redeemed him if you imagined that Jamie died.
I think so. More information can be found out by visiting the Novel Learning Series section of this site.

Landon is a popular, rich guy who makes a habit of discreetly picking on Jamie, the priest's daughter who does not know how to match her clothes, does not wear any cosmetics and spends time helping wounded animals, hanging around with her lonely father, praying for her community and donating money to the orphanage.
A Walk to Remember
He is a world apart from shy, reclusive Jamie Sullivan, a Baptist's daughter who carries a bible with her school books, cares for her widowed father and volunteers at the orphanage. PS, I Love You. Between You and Me:
